On March 8th, International Women`s Day, the book "Mujeres de Arena" (Women of Sand) by Humberto Robles will be presented in two different cities in Oaxaca. The events will be called "Saliendo del Silencio".

On March 8th, International Women`s Day, the book "Mujeres de Arena" (Women of Sand) by Humberto Robles will be presented in two different cities in Oaxaca. The events will be called "Leaving the Silence Behind". "Mujeres de Arena" has been an important theater production about the feminicide in Cuidad Juárez for quite some time. However, the murders in Ciudad Juarez continue. The violence and impunity has only increased and concrete actions to stop it have yet to be taken. Robles wrote the play to denounce the impunity and it has been porduced in several different countries in the world. Late last year, the play, which relates the experience of many women in Juarez, was published in along with a series of books from Antonio Cerezo Contreras, Denise Dresser, Malú García Andrade, María Hope, Eugenia Muñoz, Marisela Ortiz y Juan Ríos Cantú. During the events particpants will present about the situation for women in Juarez and in Oaxaca. The following is the schedule for the event in Oaxaca City: 16:00 hrs. Independencia Street, next the the Cathedral in the Hostoric Center of Oaxaca Exposition from ASARO “Women, the buried truth” Creative Workshop: “Paint your voice against violence” 17:30 hrs. Indepence Street between the Catherdral and the Biblioteca Henestrosa on the corner of Porfirio Díaz and Morelos Performance against the violence against the women and girls in Cuidad Juarez and Oaxaca called "Route of Indignation" with Myriam Ladrón de Guevara 18:30 hrs. Biblioteca Henestrosa (on the corner of Porfirio Díaz and Morelos in the Historic Center of the city) Violence against women: Shame in Ciudad Juarez and in Oaxaca Presentation of the Book: Mujeres de Arena Humberto Robles, author of the book Antonio Cerezo, Human Rights Defender Carmen Huete, actriz Colectivo Huaxyacac The presentation will end with "I sing against violence'' by Beth Miller 20:45 hrs. Independencia Street next to the Cathedral Projection of the movie: Bajo Juárez - La ciudad devorando a sus hijas (Below Juarez- the city devoring its daughters) from Alejandra Sánchez and José Antonio Cordero The following is the schedule for the event in Guelatao: Place: Plaza Cívica de Guelatao 11:00 hrs.
